Bradley Walsh halts The Chase as he issues emotional message to viewers

by · ChronicleLive

Viewers of The Chase got emotional when host Bradley Walsh paused the show for a touching moment. The ITV quiz show was introducing new contestants, including Rhys, Ann, Bethan, and Darren, who were eager to win big against Chaser Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis.

However, it was Ann who captured everyone's attention with her heartbreaking story about her husband's recent struggle with dementia during the pandemic. She asked if she could give a shoutout to her husband, and Walsh kindly replied, "Plug away darling."

Ann then asked: "His name is John, he is in a care home and they'll all be watching. Can you say hello to John and all the staff."

Walsh immediately turned to the camera and said a heartfelt hello: "John, lots of love to you mate, everyone looking after everyone there, and especially those looking after John."

He began with heartfelt thanks: "Thank you so, so much from myself and Ann. Lots of love," before expertly pivoting back to the game with a spirited, "Now are you ready to play? ", reports the Mirror.

The engagement of the audiences was palpable on social media, as they experienced a rollercoaster of emotions after the most recent showing of the show formerly known as Twitter, prompting a surge in online reactions. Fans shared their emotional responses, with one stating, "Got something in my eye," and another praising, "Oh Ann! What a babe."

Further comments like, "I'm crying and I haven't even burnt the dinner yet," and "This is breaking my heart," reflected the episode’s remarkable impact.

Ann made quite the splash by netting a cool £6,000 in her round under the spotlight and joining forces with Rhys who also bagged the same sum, setting their sights on a collective bounty of £12,000. With Bethan contributing £3,000 and Darren scooping up £5,000, the team’s total prize money looked set to hit a staggering £20,000.

The final round brought tension to a head; despite amassing an impressive 16 correct answers, the contestants were outmanoeuvred by The Menace, who caught them with just 12 seconds to spare, culminating in a thrilling, yet unfortunate end as the group left with nothing.
