Lidl Freeway truck giving out Christmas gifts and food on UK tour - but it's missing out North East
by Levi Winchester · ChronicleLiveLidl is all geared up for the holiday season with its very own Freeway cola themed Christmas truck, which promises to spread festive cheer as it embarks on a UK tour starting November 14.
From the shelves to the streets, Lidl unveils its grand red Christmas truck inspired by their in-house brand Freeway cola. The supermarket giant has confirmed that the truck will make its merry way through nine cities including Dundee, Wrexham and Wolverhampton.
A full itinerary of its jolly jaunt across the nation can be found below.
At each spirited stopover, the retail chain intends to hand out more than 2,000 boxes brimming with presents, alongside free food shops and scrumptious sample treats. Those gathered can engage further by participating in a Christmas wish submission, with Lidl vowing to fulfil several of these festive desires.
In alignment with this celebratory event, Lidl has also introduced a new heartwarming Christmas ad featuring 'Nick' who magically sets the Freeway truck in motion, reports the Mirror.

Lidl GBs Marketing Director Joanna Gomer expressed the brand's commitment to community spirit: "Giving back to the communities we serve is really important to us and our exciting new Freeway truck allows us to get right into the heart of them this year. By touring nine stops across the country, we'll be using our giant truck to hand out present boxes, give away festive food shops and grant wishes that will make dreams come true. Look out for the Freeway truck on its tour and most importantly, come join the fun."
The news arrives hot on the heels of Coca-Colas own announcement, reviving its iconic Christmas Truck Tour for the year 2024. Committed to spreading festive generosity, Coca-Cola has pledged that for every person visiting their Christmas Truck Tour, a meals equivalent will be donated to FareShare, aspiring to reach up to one million meal donations over the holiday period.
For those unable to personally visit the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck, a promotion with Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Coca-Cola Original Taste will offer fans the opportunity to scan QR codes on the packaging for a chance to win thousands of festive gifts, including pre-loaded £200 "Festive Feast" gift cards.
Updates about the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks on Instagram @CocaColaGBI and Twitter @CocaCola_GB. This follows Lidl's announcement of plans to open ten new stores across the country before Christmas.
The ten new stores will feature locations such as Berwick Green in Bristol, Bovey Tracey in Devon, and Stirchley in Birmingham. Three will open in London alone, including Hoxton, Forest Gate and Caterham, with Lidl GB aiming to establish a "strong foothold" in the capital.
Lidl will also reopen three existing stores that have either been relocated or refurbished and extended, including its Chessington location, Connah's Quay and Dagenham Heathway.
