Sophie Ellis-Bextor announces biggest ever UK tour with Newcastle date

Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be heading to Newcastle next year as part of her biggest ever UK headline tour, with tickets set to go on sale next week.

The Murder On The Dancefloor singer has announced that the 15-date tour will kick off in May 2025, also stopping off in the likes of York, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow, before culminating with a show at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. The news follows the release of Sophie's latest single, Freedom of the Night, with the new music video set to launch at 6pm on Friday following a premiere on ITV's Lorraine.

Sophie will play at Newcastle's O2 City Hall on Sunday, May 25 next year, with tickets set to go on general sale on Friday, November 1 at 9am via Ticketmaster and Live Nation. Before then, there will be a presale starting at 9am on Wednesday, October 30 to give keen fans a chance to snap up tickets early.

The presale is open to O2 Priority customers, and can also be accessed by pre-ordering Sophie's new album from her website by 11.59pm on Monday, October 28. Those who place an order for the album, which will be released next summer, will receive an exclusive code via email by 6pm on Tuesday, October 29 to get into the presale.

Sophie's 2001 hit Murder on the Dancefloor saw a huge surge in popularity last year after featuring in the final scene of the film Saltburn, climbing to number two in the UK Singles Chart with more than 11 billion streams worldwide. The star has recently been touring Europe and the US, and is set to support Take That in Australia this November.

The 45-year-old singer said: "This year has been full of amazing tour dates around the world, and it has been so much fun. I absolutely love performing live, but it's always an extra treat to be able to tour at home and I can't wait to play my biggest dates in the UK yet next May and June. It will be wonderful to bring the disco fun to everyone! Headlining The Royal Albert Hall in London is a bit of a dream and it's going to be very special."
