Bowen Yang Spills More Tea About Mystery Host Who Made SNL Cast Members Cry!

Bowen Yang is spilling more tea about the secret Saturday Night Live host who made the cast cry!

Last month, the comedian first revealed on an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that a mystery male host “hated” ideas pitched to him just days before the live show, and his harsh reactions left several cast members in a puddle of tears! He wouldn’t name-drop the individual then, and he’s still not doing so now… but he is sharing more about the sitch!

On Wednesday’s episode of the Fly on the Wall podcast with SNL alum hosts Dana Carvey and David Spade, Bowen blamed the “stressful environment” of the show for likely contributing to the heightened emotions. Referencing the fact most of the sketch writing is famously done on a single day, with writers staying up all night, he explained:

“Imagine you stay up until 4 a.m. writing a sketch and then the host is like, ‘I f**king hate this.’ You’re gonna have some [reaction]. Your nerves are frayed, you’re going to have some weird, bizarre emotional response.”

Yeah, that would be a TERRIBLE feeling!! Trying to give the person the benefit of the doubt, Dana pointed out:

“Some people deal with stress by lashing out and being kind of overly angry. It’s all just anxiety and fear.”

True! But that’s not to take away from the fact this is a rude guest’s fault. We mean — it’s not like most hosts make people cry.

It’s inneresting that Bowen is clearly still trying to protect the person from possible backlash by not revealing their identity — well, at least publicly. He told the podcasters he’d tell them “off-mic.” Hah! The Fire Island star also noted that he’s “not saying [he] was the one who cried.” Another mystery?? LOLz!

Back when the revelation was first made, fans speculated the host could’ve been Dave Chappelle, who made an eye-catching and very random appearance on Dakota Johnson‘s episode last season, showing up to stand in the goodbye segment. Bowen was seen standing as far away from the controversial stand-up star, who has been blasted for anti-LGBTQ+ jokes, as possible.

Bowen has denied that was any kind of statement or shade toward the performer… but we still kind of doubt he’d be trying so hard to protect Chappelle if that was the host he was talking about.
