Joey Essex flirts with TV hosts in awkward interview after split
by Laura Parkin For Mailonline · Mail OnlineJoey Essex shared a very flirty exchange with TV host in cringy chat on Monday when he insisted he’s ‘husband material.'
The former TOWIE star, 34, joined US station KTLA with host Jasmine Simpkins and the panel, who cheekily suggested that he take his clothes off in the interview.
Joey discussed his career plans in Los Angeles following his split from Love Island's Jessy Potts, 25, in September - just seven weeks after leaving the villa together.
'I'm so excited to be here, you all look beautiful by the way,' he said after being introduced.
'Can you just keep talking we love your accent?' the panel teased back.
Discussing Joey's outfit, Jasmine explained how she had helped him choose what to wear for the show including the mohair cardigan.
'Maybe a little later we can tell you to take it off', the girls joked while Joey awkwardly giggled.
As they flipped the conversation to his reality TV career, Joey continued: 'In the UK it's pretty hectic for me, I do get stopped. But I enjoy it, I enjoy the life that I live.
'I am looking for somewhere to live in LA. I'm looking for a flat because I own a house in Essex and it's a lot of working looking after a house.
'I clean my own house, my own clothes, my own dishes. I'm perfect husband material, I must say.'
Joey's flirty discussion comes after his ex Jessy adressed their split during a question and answer session on Instagram.
When one fan asked if going on Love Island was worth it, she answered: 'It was the best thing I've ever done, without a doubt.
'I had so much fun doing it, have been given incredible opportunities since leaving the villa and despite it not working on the outside, I did meet someone I liked and had the best summer ever with an amazing group of people.'
The ITV2 stars, who met on the latest series of the dating reality show, confirmed the break up over the summer, with Joey, insisting he hopes to stay friends with Jessy.
The pair said they 'tried to make their relationship work' but after leaving the show it 'just wasn't meant to be'.
Joey recently had spoken out for the first time since they announced the news and revealed what happened between the pair.
When quizzed by Goss.ie at the launch of the latest tanning range from Iconic Bronze, the reality TV icon replied: 'Unfortunately, we just parted ways. I wish her all the best.'
Joey was also questioned on the possibility of making an appearance on the second season of Love Island All Stars, which he quickly shut down.
'I mean not right now no,' he confirmed, 'that's definitely not in the pipeline right now.'
Announcing their breakup in September, Joey told The Sun: 'Unfortunately, we have decided to call an end to the relationship but I hope we can continue to be friends. I truly wish Jessy the very best with whatever she does in the future.'
Jessy added: 'I appreciate the Love Island experience I had with Joey, we tried to make it work but it wasn't to be.
'I'm so grateful to everyone who supported us and look forward to all of the exciting opportunities ahead.'
The pair fell in love during series 11 of Love Island and made it all the way to the grand finale.
But less than two months on, it was recently rumoured that the pair were 'hardly speaking' amid their busy schedules.
A source told The Sun: 'Joey and Jessy have barely spent any time together as he's been so busy doing nightclub PAs - it's causing a lot of friction between them.
'At Ronnie Vint's Eggiboff event it was noticed by a lot of people that they hardly spoke. Sadly it looks like it's only a matter of time before they split.'
Jessy herself also noted that things had become 'hard' as they tried to navigate their relationship away from the bubble of the villa.
She told Heatworld: 'We're organising when to see each other, and I think it's hard because you compare it to the other couples.
Jessy also noted that it was always going to be 'different' for them because Joey was resuming his 'normal life' as a celebrity, whilst she had to learn to cope with her newfound fame.
She added: 'They're with each other 24/7, whereas we always knew it was going to be different because he's catching up on his normal life, whereas for the rest of us we're thrown into a new life.
'Everything is new and we're waiting for things to come up. It was always going to be slightly different.
'We're both making the effort and everyone's speculating that we've broken up. We're working it out.'
