Will Miranda Hart follow Sarah Hadland's dance steps?

by · Mail Online

Back in the public eye after a debilitating battle with undiagnosed Lyme disease, Miranda Hart is planning to become a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

Ms Hart – who secretly married at the age of 51 this year – is reportedly transfixed by former 'Miranda' co-star Sarah Hadland's appearances on the current series of the BBC1 show and has her sights set on appearing next year.

A well-placed insider told The Mail on Sunday: 'Sarah and Miranda used to watch Strictly at home together before Sarah was on it. It was their joint dream to be on [the show]. Ultimately, Miranda would love to go on the show.'

Ms Hart, who played Chummy in Call The Midwife and had an award-winning comedy show, disappeared from TV screens as she battled with the wretched symptoms of fatigue, aches and loss of energy. They had plagued her for decades but got worse with age.

But after finally being diagnosed, she slowly began to recover. Her confidence has returned, and – as the MoS exclusively revealed – she fell in love and married building surveyor Richard Fairs, 60.

She has returned to TV screens to promote her memoir I Haven't Been Entirely Honest with You on the One Show and Graham Norton. She also made an appearance at the Cheltenham Literature Festival earlier this month.

And last week she posted an energetic Instagram video, demonstrating her own choreography idea for Ms Hadland, 53, and her Strictly dance partner Vito Coppola.

Another video shows her performing Samba moves and telling her friend: 'Come on, Hadders… Samba your hips away. Go Team tiramisu.'

Ms Hart last week uploaded a video of herself experimenting at home with ganchos, an Argentine tango move, accompanied by professional dancer Janette Manrara.

Energetically twisting her hips, Miranda says in it: 'I call those the gotchas... you keep your foot on the floor. But I say raise it up and shake it back.'

The source added: 'Miranda would love to learn how to dance properly. Obviously, the Beeb would love that too. The BBC is desperate to get the big names back on the show. If they could tempt Miranda onto it, then it could encourage other big celebrities to do it again. Sarah is their hope because she's so close to Miranda.'

On last week's show, Strictly host Claudia Winkleman said: 'This is an official message to Miranda Hart. Your wonderful friend is dancing in exactly 27 minutes 55 seconds.'

Hadland added Ms Winkleman was making 'it crystal clear she's got time to get the kettle on, toilet break, no talking, watch'.

The source close to Hadland – who attended Miranda's secret wedding – told the Mail on Sunday: 'That was a shout-out to Miranda.

'The whole BBC is trying to persuade her by making references to her on the show. She just got married, everyone's buzzing with her and she's Strictly's biggest fan.

'Before now she's been self-conscious, she is ridiculously tall as well, she's a head taller than Sarah. But Sarah's given her the confidence to potentially give it a try.'
