Sophie Turner's post for new man was a slap in the face for Joe Jonas

Joe Jonas feels his ex-wife Sophie Turner’s gushing birthday tribute to her new boyfriend was a ‘slap in the face,’ claim his friends, who believe it was a ‘strange’ move so soon after their divorce.

Jonas, 35, filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones actress, 28, in September 2023, one month before she was pictured kissing British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, 30, in Paris.

Their divorce was finalized this September, with Turner confirming her new relationship on Instagram this weekend with a series of snaps from across their one-year romance.

Jonas feels the post, in which she described Pearson as her ‘angel pie,’ really ‘twisted the knife’ so soon after their divorce following a bitter year-long legal battle.

‘Joe feels like Sophie’s over the top birthday love post for Peregrine “her angel” is a slap in the face considering she’s been with him since the moment Joe filed for divorce,’ friends of the singer told DailyMail.com exclusively.

‘Everyone can see it for what it is now. He will always be a present and involved father, but it’s only been a month since they finalized.

‘It’s strange that she went and twisted the knife by sharing how much she loves her new man so publicly like this.’

Turner finally went Instagram official with Pearson on Sunday, sharing a picture of the pair kissing under a tent alongside others showing them cozied up together on a canal boat, posing on a hot air balloon and skiing.

Other shots show her fixing his tie at a party and sitting on his lap with a bottle of beer in hand.

‘Happy Birthday my angel pie, 30, flirty and thriving,’ she captioned the post.

The actress' new love interest is the eldest son and heir of Michael Pearson, the 4th Viscount Cowdray – a former film producer who owns a significant chunk of the Pearson media empire.

While Turner is said to be worth a whopping $10million, this pales in comparison to Peregrine's family fortune, which is thought to be in excess of £224 million ($273 million).

He has a $5million pad in Chelsea while his father owns a sprawling mansion in West Sussex with 22 bedrooms and 16,500 acres of grounds.

His ancestral estate is home to Cowdray Park Polo Club – which boasts ten pitches and hosts more than 450 matches each year.

The prestigious club hosts the annual Gold Cup, where both Prince William and Prince Harry have played.

A second source claimed Jonas expects Turner to make him look or feel bad in the foreseeable future.

‘Joe anticipates more pettiness from Sophie as he almost expects her to do something or say something to try to make him feel bad,' they said. 

'Joe is trying to play it off as it comes and not get into it as it will ultimately turn against him if he reacts. He wants to continue to be the bigger man. 

'They continued: 'Joe never wanted to be without the mother of his children, but unfortunately that wasn’t possible. He wants to be a great dad and hopes that they can eventually get to a place where it isn't one ordeal after another.’ 

Turner and Jonas, who recently split from model Stormi Bree after a brief romance, tied the knot in 2019. They are parents to daughters Willa, four, and Delphine, two.

Jonas filed for divorce in Miami, Florida last September after four years of marriage, with Turner later claiming that she learned the news through the media. She accused him of refusing to hand over their children's passports.

The couple had major disagreements on where their daughters would live full-time.

While the actress wanted to take them to her native UK, Jonas wanted to keep them in the United States.

The pair reached a temporary custody agreement in October 2023 which they announced in a joint statement after an intense four days of mediation in New York.

'After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the UK,' they said.

'We look forward to being great co-parents.'

In May Turner opened up about the agony that she felt during her the fallout from her split from Jonas – admitting there were days when 'she didn't know if she would make it.'

Their bitter year-long battle came to an end last month when a judge granted the divorce after declaring that their marriage was 'irretrievably broken.'

Peregrine previously dated King Charles's goddaughter, Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece, a 28-year-old model.
