Thousands of grieving Liam Payne fans have signed a petition urging that a memorial is erected in honour of the One Direction star who tragically fell to his death.

The music lovers are requesting a permanent 'structure or mural' is put in place in the singer's home city of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.

It comes as actress and singer Nicole Scherzinger, 46, became the latest celebrity to pay her respect to Liam, 31, who died after falling from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Liam fell 45ft and tragically passed away from multiple injuries, including internal and external bleeding, on October 16.

The singer's fans back in England previously reacted to the news of his passing by flocking to Wolverhampton to lay flowers and light candles.

Liam Payne fans' call for new 'Liam's Law' to protect young pop stars will be debated in Parliament

The petition comes after fans also called for a new 'Liam's Law' to protect the mental health of young pop stars.

This will be discussed in parliament as it has received over 110,000 signatures.

The proposed law would ensure stars get regular mental health check-ups, 'adequate rest periods', mental health professionals on set and ongoing support throughout their career.

Launched anonymously on October 18 by a fan named Day KV on Change.org, the explanation states: 'The entertainment industry must be held accountable and take responsibility for the well-being of its artists.

'Resultant issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, substance misuse and even suicide are alarmingly high.'

Prosecutors in Argentina say they believe Liam Payne may had been experiencing a drug-induced 'psychotic episode' after taking illegal substances prior to his death.

The upmarket hotel where he was staying has now been raided by police who are reportedly trying to find those accused of supplying him with the harmful substances.
