A woman has been left second guessing her relationship after her fiancé proposed to her with a $38 ring from Temu.

The bride-to-be, 27, from the U.S. took to Reddit to detail the aftermath of the awkward engagement, having posted anonymously in the popular subreddit r/AmITheA*****e in September.

The woman explained that she has been in a relationship for three years with her 29-year-old partner, who earns $200,000 (£154,000) a year.

Even more shockingly, after the bride-to-be called her partner out, he has since suggested she use her own money to buy herself a ring that meets her expectations.

However, despite being left disappointed with her fiancé's ring selection, she has still accepted his proposal - much to the fury of fellow Redditors, who have rallied together to warn her to 'run.'

However, many shoppers have reported the fine jewellery have 'turned their fingers green' and has cited concerns over wearing rings that could contain unregulated materials, such as lead, that could harm health.

In the post, the woman said: 'I really liked the ring when I first saw it and my friends and family all think it is stunning. It’s an oval cut with “diamonds” across the band.'

When the bride-to-be inquired about where her partner had purchased the ring from, he avoided answering the question, instead explaining that he 'got a great deal on it'.

Later, while the couple were in bed, the woman curiously asked her fiancé if the stone in the ring was made from diamond or moissanite, to which her partner said he'd have to 'look it up' on his phone.

However, to the woman's horror, she glanced at his screen to find he had opened the Temu app.

After confronting her husband-to-be, he reportedly become frustrated and resorted to sleeping on the sofa.

Confused, the woman spent 'all night' searching the Chinese e-commerce app to find her ring - and stumbled across an 'identical' ring listed at $38.

A 'Stunning Oval Moissanite Engagement Ring' - made from '925's sterling silver - listed on Temu for £27 ($35)

In the post, she added: 'I am mad. He makes good money (200K/yr) and I feel like he could’ve shelled out some money for a ring better than one on Temu. AITA for telling him I don’t want it?'

In a shocking update, the woman added: 'He apologized for sleeping on the couch and that he needed time to think. He doesn’t see eye to eye with me on my concerns about the ring and says he did research and that it was highly rated.

'He says if the ring breaks he will replace it (but didn’t say it’d be higher quality)...now I really don’t want to wear it.

'He left and went to his brother’s house. Usually I’d go with him but things are just tense. AITA for telling him I still don’t want it?'

The bride-to-be further probed her partner by asking him if there was 'anything he needed to tell her, or whether he was 'testing' her by deliberately buying a $38 ring - but this had only set him off further.

According to the woman, he fumed, 'What kind of person do you think I am? You think I'm a cheapskate? A liar? You obviously think really poorly of me,' before attempting to flee their home 'again.'

She added: 'So I tried de-escalating and told him I see where he's coming from but I need to know if he still loves me. He was immediately apologetic and still wants to get married.

'He said I can just pick my ring out and buy it with my own money. He said he's sick of talking about this and it's "water under the bridge" now.'

'He's acting like his normal self again since this convo. I hear him out there skipping around and humming to himself all happily and it's actually p*****g me off. Maybe I'm being dramatic, but I don't think I can handle a marriage with someone like this.'

Over 6,000 Redditors flocked to the comments to share their thoughts on the bride-to-be's dilemma - with the majority advising the woman to call off the engagement and 'run.'

One person wrote: 'This will be your future if you marry him. He’s showing you exactly who he is. He’s cheap and now expects you to buy your own ring… WITH YOUR OWN MONEY???! You would be the a*****e if you stay with this person.'

Another said: 'Girl, run! He is still gaslighting you and showing you exactly what to expect in a marriage with him.

'Go, buy yourself a pretty, good quality ring, show him happily what ring you got yourself and then with that same smile on your face dump him! Bonus points for throwing the Temu trash... after him when he walks out.'

A third commented: 'Ask him if he's OK with everyone knowing exactly where he got this ring from? Watch his reaction when you tell his mother and family that he only spent $38 on YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING.

'And then, just as chipperly, share with them his genius plan to resolve this issue. That he flat out told you to buy your own ENGAGEMENT ring.'

A fourth added, 'Run, OP. He's gaslighting you,' while another exclaimed, 'GIRL DON'T MARRY HIM.'

It comes as another woman has been left feeling disappointed after her fiancé proposed with a cheap engagement ring - even though he spends extravagantly on himself.

The anonymous woman took to British parenting forum Mumsnet to explain that the ring 'looked cheap like costume jewellery', and she couldn't help but feel let down.
