Capcom is upgrading multiple Resident Evil games for Xbox Series X|S, PS5

Capcom is bringing a slate of its games from the last console generation to new gaming hardware. Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 are all coming to Xbox Series X|S and PS5 later in 2022.

Capcom shared on Twitter that all three games would be getting upgrades later in the year. These upgrades are free for anyone who currently owns the games, and PC owners will also be getting an upgrade adding in the new features. Exactly what's being upgraded in these new versions of the games on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5 isn't clear however, as Capcom hasn't shared any particular details.

Resident Evil Village, the most recent game in the franchise, featured ray-tracing and 3D audio, so it would make sense to see these kinds of upgrades come over.

Capcom launched Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil Village in 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021 respectively, maintaining a steady slate which has seen several games join the ranks of the best Xbox horror games available. Most recently, Resident Evil Village has crossed 5.7 million copies sold so far.

Looking ahead, Capcom is reportedly working on a remake of Resident Evil 4, with the remake reportedly taking a darker tone and changing some things up compared to the original game.
