Seahawks have ‘no intention’ of trading Russell Wilson

by · The Washington Times

INDIANAPOLIS | The Seattle Seahawks have “no intention” of trading quarterback Russell Wilson, coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday.

Wilson, 33, has been linked in trade rumors dating back to last year when his agent gave ESPN a list of four teams to which the quarterback would approve a trade. Wilson, who has a no-trade clause, did not demand a trade, but the speculation has carried over to this offseason.

The Seahawks are coming off a down season in which they finished 7-10.

Carroll said teams inquire about players every year — including Wilson — but indicated he’s not fazed by the trade buzz.

“We have no intention of making any move there,” Carroll said when asked about a potential Wilson trade.

Wilson, meanwhile, has also come out and reiterated his intentions to play for the Seahawks. On Tuesday, he dismissed the idea of playing for the Washington Commanders when asked by “Today” if he’d like to play for the nation’s capital.

“Listen man, I love the East Coast but I think the West Coast is better for me right now,” Wilson said. “I got my whole family over here.”
