The junior doctors had begun fast unto death on Saturday claiming that their demands were not met by the West Bengal government. Several senior doctors of the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata tendered their resignation today in their support.

The decision to resign en masse was taken at a meeting of the heads of various departments of the state-run hospital on Tuesday morning, the doctors said.

Nearly 50 senior doctors of RG Kar hospital on Tuesday tendered their resignations in a mark of solidarity with medics who have been on fast-unto-death since October 5 demanding justice for the institution's rape and murder victim.
