Horse causes chaos on major UK motorway with all traffic stopped

by · Metro

It’s been an eventful travel day – and now there’s more drama after a horse escaped onto the M20.

The horse is wreaking havoc for drivers on the motorway in Kent, where lanes have been closed until the animal is taken to safety.

Meanwhile, Transport for London has shared an update on the recent cyber attack, which targeted its systems but failed to harm physical transport services. However, thousands of TfL customers’ details were exposed. Those affected have now been contacted, the Guardian reports.

ShashiVerma, TfL’s chief technology officer, said the situation ‘continues to evolve’ after a 17-year-old boy was arrested and questioned two weeks ago.

The contactless expansion to 47 additional stations outside London has also been delayed after the hacking.

Flooding can put homes and communities at risk, but it can also damage your car and become a hazard to pedestrians.

UK roads are infamous for their potholes which can easily gather standing water, making wet roads even more treacherous.

Splashing pedestrians is also an offence – whether done maliciously or not.

Drenching a pedestrian or a cyclist is considered careless and inconsiderate in the eyes of the law under section three of the Road Traffic Act 1988.

Drivers could be slapped with a £100 fine and three penalty points on the licence if caught by the police. The maximum fine is £5,000.

The Highway Code has something to say about driving through water.

Motorists should test their brakes after driving through puddles as water can make brakes less effective, vehicle expert Cinch said.
