Two men died in a two-vehicle crash in downtown Seattle near Westlake Park early Friday morning, according to Seattle police.

Police responded at 12:40 a.m. to a collision between an SUV and a sedan at Fourth Avenue and Pine Street, the Seattle Police Department said in an online blotter post.

The Seattle Fire Department arrived and extricated two men from the SUV. The 23-year-old driver and 24-year-old passenger of the SUV died.

Police said the sedan had been traveling north on Fourth Avenue through a green light. The SUV was speeding west on Pine Street and ran a red light. The vehicles collided and came to rest on the northwest sidewalk, police said.

The driver and passenger of the sedan were not injured.

Police did not make any arrests and continue to investigate the crash.

The crash blocked westbound and southbound lanes of Fourth Avenue and Pine Street for five hours, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation. The roads later reopened.
