A three-car crash killed two people and sent three more to Harborview Medical Center on Sunday morning east of Enumclaw, according to the Washington State Patrol.

State troopers are recommending vehicular homicide charges against an Enumclaw woman, 63. Just before 11:30 a.m., she was driving a Honda Accord west on Highway 410, when she tried to pass multiple vehicles between Enumclaw and Greenwater, according to the State Patrol.

Her car narrowly avoided a head-on collision with an eastbound 2016 Honda Fit, troopers said. She swerved back into her lane, striking a westbound 2016 Subaru Outback and sending it out of control.

The Subaru collided with the Honda Fit, killing both the Subaru driver, 72, and a passenger, 69. The occupants of the Honda Fit — two women in their 30s — were transported to Harborview, along with the woman suspected of causing the crash.

Two of the survivors were airlifted with life-threatening injuries. The third survivor suffered “moderate” injuries, according to Puget Sound Fire.

Everyone involved wore seat belts, according to the report.

Troopers did not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Traffic on Highway 410 resumed normal flow by 6 p.m., Trooper Rick Johnson said.
