Is this the last warm, sunny weekend in Seattle before the rain begins?

As the second week of October wraps up, weekend temperatures will reach the 70s in the Seattle region, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday temperatures will tiptoe toward the low 70s with sunny skies once morning fog and clouds dissipate, NWS Seattle meteorologist Maddie Kristell said. Sun and a high of 74 degrees are predicted for Sunday.

Temperatures will drop into the 50s in the evenings, she said.

Based on historical weather patterns, this weekend may be the last burst of warmer temperatures before the region shifts into the typical cold, rainy Seattle fall weather, Kristell said.

Cue the fall hikes, pumpkin-patch visits and foliage walks, while there’s still time.

“We are expecting a shift to a more active weather pattern beginning early this coming week, with a couple of atmospheric rivers coming through for some more rain,” she said. “So this is about the time of year when things transition and these more pleasant days are fewer and fewer.”

Seattleites should prepare for rainy conditions Monday through Friday with temperatures in the low 60s in the front half of the week, according to NWS.

Temperatures are expected to drop later in the week with a predicted high of 56 degrees on Thursday and 56 on Friday.
