Paul Warne makes midfield call after Hull City show in predicted Derby County XI v Stoke

by · Derbyshire Live

Derby County can make it five games unbeaten in the Championship at Stoke City and will be hoping to secure their first Championship away win of the season.

Paul Warne's side are still waiting for their first three-point haul away in the second tier and head to the bet365 Stadium on the back of three successive 1-1 draws. Fresh from their point against Hull on Saturday, Derby face a Stoke side that are currently winless in their last five league and cup matches.

And being backed by more than 3,000 supporters for the short journey to face the Potters, Derby will hope to deliver a performance for another terrific away following.

Derby currently sit 12th in the Championship table in what has been a solid start to life back in the second tier, but there are some injury concerns heading into Saturday.

Ryan Nyambe, who injured his knee against Millwall, and Tawanda Chirewa are both out while on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh is also out of the equation because of a quad muscle injury. Jake Rooney is continuing to work on his comeback from a knee injury.

After benefiting from no midweek game, Warne must decide whether to freshen up his starting XI and here Derby writer Leigh Curtis names his predicted team and we would like yours too.

Jacob Widell Zetterstrom - GK

The Sweden international has firmly established himself as the club's number one in what has been a terrific start to his career at Derby. Has caught the eye with some terrific saves this season.(Image: PA)

Kane Wilson - RB

Wilson is currently in the team while Ryan Nyambe is out injured and while he may not give you the same defensive solidity, he is excellent going forward and will be expected to support the attack.(Image: MI News/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

Curtis Nelson - CB

Having won player of the season following promotion, the big centre-back has had an excellent start to the campaign and has carried on where he left off. Also a threat from set-pieces.

Eiran Cashin - CB

Undoubtedly the best centre-back at the club in terms of how he looks after the ball, helped by his upbringing as a central midfield player. Loves a diagonal pass out to the right wing.(Image: PA)

Craig Forsyth - LB

Callum Elder would perhaps give you more going forward, but Forsyth is more defensive-minded and he may just get the nod as Derby go in search of their first away win in the Championship this season.(Image: Barrington Coombs)
