Man in his 60s seriously injured after BMW fails to stop for police
by Oscar Fisher · Derbyshire LiveDerbyshire police have launched an appeal after a man in his 60s was seriously injured after colliding with a car near a busy Derby roundabout. The incident, which took place at around 11.30am on Wednesday (November 6), saw a green BMW mount the pavement in Normanton Road after failed attempts by police officers to stop the driver.
The pedestrian has suffered serious injuries which are not beleived to be life-threatening and has been taken to hospital for treatment. A man in 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: "A man has suffered serious injuries after a collision in Normanton Road. The incident occurred at 11.30am today and saw a green BMW collide with a pedestrian.
"Officers had attempted to stop the driver, however, the BMW mounted the pavement and, as it did so it, collided with a pedestrian. Officers want to hear from anyone who may have footage of the incident, in particular any drivers with dashcams that may have captured the collision.
