Channel 5 Traffic Cops 'police dog' warning to thieves who barricaded themselves in shed

by · Derbyshire Live

Another action-packed episode of Channel 5's Traffic Cops will show Derbyshire's police officers dealing with suspected thieves who barricaded themselves in a shed and refused to come out. It came as the force hunted for a gang of burglars.

It followed a spate of burglaries across the Midlands. A sneak peek at the episode shows one man under arrest near Derby, caught in possession of a large amount of cash.

More officers were then dispatched to a housing estate off the A38 at Alfreton in a search for two other suspects. Viewers will see one of the officers radioing to say his team has discovered a shed locked from the inside.

He then calls out: "Police officer with dog, come out or the dog will bite you. It's your last warning" - but programme makers are keeping what happens next firmly under wraps until the episode airs.

In another stories following the day-to-day life of Derbyshire's officers, police cameras trigger a search for a suspected cloned car linked to multiple burglaries across the county. Reports come in of a car thought to have been involved in a shop theft and alleged assault.

Elsewhere, officers stop a man and a woman with a boot full of loot believed to have been stolen from a string of homeware shops.

The programme, which is narrated by Jamie Theakston, was first broadcast on the BBC from 2003 to 2016, before moving to Channel 5 in 2017. The latest series focuses on Derbyshire's road policing teams and features a behind-the-scenes look at how the county's officers deal with traffic-related incidents on our roads.

The chase features in the latest episode of Traffic Cops which will be shown on Channel 5 at 8pm tonight, Wednesday, October 23. The full episode will also be available on My5 catch-up.
