Stray firework caused shed fire which closed Derbyshire village road
by Louis Corbett · Derbyshire LiveA street in Repton was closed overnight after a stray firework hit a shed which caught fire. Fire crews were called to a property in Main Street just before 8.30pm on Tuesday (November 5) and closed off the road for a short while.
Upon arrival firefighters found that a shed in the garden of a property was "well alight".
Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. The road remained closed during the incident and was reopened shortly after 9.40pm.
A subsequent investigation by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue concluded that the most likely cause of the fire to be a firework coming into contact with combustible materials in the shed.
