Man taken to hospital after car crashes into tree on A38 near Little Eaton island
The road was blocked on Monday morning while emergency services attended the scene
by Oscar Fisher · Derbyshire LiveA single-vehicle crash left the A38 at a standstill after a black Audi collided with a tree on Monday (September 30) morning. Both Derbyshire police and the fire service attended the incident, which took place on the A38 northbound near Little Eaton Island at around 5.50am.
Officers have confirmed that the driver of the Audi, a 21-year-old man, was taken to hospital by ambulance. It is believed that his injuries are not life-threatening. A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called to report a single-vehicle collision just after 5.50am this morning.
"A black Audi A5 had collided with a tree on the A38 northbound, just past the Little Eaton roundabout, in Derby. A lane was closed for a couple of hours, as it was blocked by the fallen tree but was reopened at around 8am.”
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews from Alfreton and Nottingham Road attended the scene. A statement from the fire service added: "Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision involving a car and a tree on the A38 northbound near the Abbey Hill Island.
"One casualty was out of the vehicle upon arrival of crews and left in the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service. Fire crews worked to make the scene safe before handing the incident over to Derbyshire police."
