William and Catherine join King and Queen for church service at Balmoral

The King and Queen have been joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales at church at Balmoral.

William and Catherine were seen driving from Crathie Kirk after morning service.

Their appearance was a surprise – the Wales family stayed at Balmoral in August but Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are now back at school in Berkshire which usually means the family stay close to their homes at Windsor or in Norfolk for weekends. It’s not known whether their children were with them for the latest stay at Balmoral.

Prince William had been in Scotland earlier in the week for work on Homewards, his project focused on ending homelessness. On September 19th, he spent the day in Aberdeen, about an hour and a half’s drive from Balmoral.

King Charles was seen at a meeting with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit at Dumfries House as this week came to an end. The King was joined there by Deputy Prime Minister, Angela Rayner.

Queen Camilla helped launch this year’s Braemar Literary Festival which has taken place this weekend. Her Majesty’s Reading Room is a partner of the festival.

The Princess of Wales held her first public engagement this week since finishing chemotherapy, hosting a meeting of her Early Years project.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to remain in Scotland for several more days.
