Liam Payne’s dad is reportedly "refusing" to leave the ITV The X Factor star's body’s side as he’s "determined" to accompany him home to Britain. Liam's dad, from Wolverhampton, left the family home on Wednesday night and travelled to Buenos Aires in Argentina, where the 31-year-old died in a tragic balcony fall last week.

Liam's father Geoff is currently in South America organising plans to repatriate his son's body. Geoff visited Casa Sur Hotel, the hotel where Liam had been staying on Friday. A source told the Mirror: "Liam’s loved ones just want him home, back where he belongs among his family.

"They have been tackling the logistics about how best to get his body back to the UK. Geoff is determined to accompany his son home." It comes as fans gathered at the Peter Pan statue in London's Hyde Park- singing his songs and bringing floral tributes to the singer.

In one letter, fan Helen, 30, wrote: "I was one of the very lucky people in my teenage years to see you on numerous occasions. You were so kind, polite and friendly, every single time. You appreciated your fans so much. Back then I was over the moon to meet you as a fan but also as a person - Liam you were just so lovely."

She added: "You died young but if love could've saved you, my goodness you really would have lived forever." One Direction, which consisted of Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, did not win the X Factor in 2010 but went on to become one of the biggest boybands ever.

Malik announced on Saturday that he would postpone the US leg of his tour, posting on X that he was making the decision “given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week”. “The dates are being rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days,” he said.

“Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding.”
