Woman, 27, dies after being stabbed at Midlands train station

A woman stabbed at a Midlands train station has died. Emergency services rushed to Bescot Stadium, Walsall, after reports of a 'serious assault' just after 11.25pm on Sunday, October 20.

British Transport Police said the woman was discovered with 'injuries consistent with being stabbed'. The 27-year-old was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since died.

Deng Cholmajek, of Bescot Crescent, Walsall, was initially charged with attempted murder. He was remanded in custody when he appeared at Walsall Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, October 22.

Detectives will now make an application to amend the indictment and he is expected to be charged with murder. Cholmajek will next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on November 19.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Paul Attwell, from British Transport Police, said: "We have specialist family liaison officers supporting the victim’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time. I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and an 18-year-old man has now been charged and remanded in connection.
