Riot the police dog 'sniffs out violent disorder suspect hiding in Walsall loft'

Police said Riot was soon on the 'suspect's trail'

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder after a police dog named Riot sniffed out a suspect "hiding in a loft". The arrest happened at a property in Severn Road, Bloxwich, at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 9.

Riot was at the scene with his handler, Wayne Trueman, and he was soon on the "suspect's trail", West Midlands Police said. A force spokesperson said: "We acted on information and attended an address off Severn Road, Bloxwich, at around 7.30pm yesterday, October 9.

"Our police dog Riot managed to sniff out a crime suspect who was hiding in a loft. PD Riot was on the scene with his handler Wayne Trueman and was quickly on the trail of a suspect.

"Riot was used to search the loft where he sniffed out a man who was hidden inside. He has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder earlier this year. The 20-year-old is currently in police custody for questioning.

"As is common with most other forces, we breed and train the dogs to help us police the region. We're always keen to hear from people who would be able to assist with the development of our puppies and become a fosterer."
