Arrests after man killed in Aston A34 'hit-and-run crash' near Six Ways Island

Detectives have made three arrests after a man was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash in Aston. Police were called to Victoria Road, near Six Ways Island, on the A34, shortly before 11.45pm last night, October 28.

The fatal collision involved a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and a Ford Focus, police said. A man, aged in his 20s, who was a passenger in the Ford, sustained critical injuries.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger from the Ford was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Three others were hurt but not seriously injured.

West Midlands Police said the occupants of the Mitsubishi had left the scene - but that two men were arrested at hospital this morning. The men, aged 18 and 19, were held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Detectives said they believe at least one other person was in the Mitsubishi at the time and urged them to contact investigators.

A force spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with this loved ones at this devastating time and we'll be doing all we can to support them. Another passenger from the Ford was taken to hospital with serious injuries, although they are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening. Three others were not seriously injured.

"The occupants of the Mitsubishi vehicle left the scene but two men presented at hospital earlier this morning and have since been arrested. The men, 18 and 19, have been detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and are now in custody for questioning.

"A 41-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and is also in custody. We believe there was at least someone else in the Mitsubishi and we're appealing for them to come forward and tell us what happened.
