A teenage girl has been left with serious head injuries following a crash in the Black Country. The 19-year-old was a passenger in a Volkswagen Golf, which was reported as stolen.

The vehicle failed to stop for police on Hampshire Road in West Bromwich before it smashed into the brick wall just after 11pm on Sunday, October 6. The driver reportedly fled the scene before officers arrested two teenage boys - one aged 17 and the other 19 - from inside the car.

A third passenger, a 19-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. West Midlands Police have since referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which is standard procedure.
