Aston Villa team news vs Bournemouth confirmed as Unai Emery makes four changes

by · Birmingham Live

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has named his starting XI to face Bournemouth in this afternoon's Premier League clash at Villa Park (3pm kick-off).

He has made four changes from the side which beat Bologna 2-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night as Lucas Digne, Matty Cash, Jacob Ramsey and Ollie Watkins come into the side. Diego Carlos, Ian Maatsen, Leon Bailey and Jhon Duran drop to the bench, while Tyrone Mings makes the matchday squad for a Premier League game for the first time since the opening weekend of last season.

From back to front, Emi Martinez starts in goal behind a defence made up of Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Digne. Amadou Onana operates alongside Youri Tielemans in midfield, while McGinn plays from the right and Ramsey on the left as Morgan Rogers supports Watkins up front.

This is the second of three home matches they are playing in a row after beating Bologna and ahead of hosting Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Villa are currently leading the Champions League league phase table after winning all three of their matches so far and could leapfrog Arsenal in the Premier League table this weekend as they host early pace-setters Liverpool tomorrow.

Today's opponents Bournemouth beat Arsenal last weekend at the Vitality Stadium, but have lost three of their first five games on the road this term. Their only win away from home came against Everton, where they scored three late goals to complete an improbable comeback. The Cherries have lost six of their last nine away Premier League matches.

Villa XI: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Pau, Digne, Onana, Tielemans, McGinn, Ramsey, Rogers, Watkins.

Subs: Olsen, Mings, Carlos, Maatsen, Barkley, Buendia, Kamara, Bailey, Duran.

Bournemouth XI: Travers, Araujo, Senesi, Zabarnyi, Kerkez, Cook, Christie, Dango, Kluivert, Semenyo, Unal.

Subs: Dennis, Huijsen, Brooks, Evanilson, Adams, Smith, Tavernier, Hill, Aarons.
