Attempted murder arrests after man left fighting for life in Birmingham shooting

Three people were being held on suspicion of attempted murder after a man left fighting for his life following a city shooting. Gunshots were fired in Alderson Road, Washwood Heath, shortly before 10.30pm on Saturday, October 19.

Police were called to the scene and found a 19-year-old man with serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Police stopped a car in Alum Rock Road yesterday and arrested three people. Two men, aged 46 and 22, and one woman, 40, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

They remained in police custody today. A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We've arrested three people after a man was seriously injured after shots were fired in Washwood Heath on Saturday, October 19.

"We were called to Alderson Road shortly before 10.30pm where a 19-year-old man was found with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital, and remains in a life-threatening condition today (Monday).

"Yesterday evening, officers stopped a car in Alum Rock Road and three people were arrested. Two men, aged 46 and 22, and one woman, aged 40, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody today as our investigations continue.

"Officers are remaining at the scene today to carry out further enquiries and are appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have seen or heard anything to come forward. We believe this was an isolated incident and extra patrols are being carried out in the area.

"We understand the alarm incidents like this can cause and our officers will be providing reassurance to the community, so please talk to them if you have any concerns.
