Urgent appeal as woman vanishes from new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital

An urgent appeal has been launched to find a vulnerable pensioner who walked out of a new hospital. Named only as Bridget, the woman was last seen leaving Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Grove Lane, Smethwick, around 1pm today, Monday, October 21.

West Midlands Police said officers were worried about her wellbeing. The 81-year-old left the hospital, which was only opened on Sunday, October 6, with her navy blue coat on and was carrying a green bag.

It was believed she may have travelled to Birmingham. Anyone who saw Bridget was urged to dial 999 immediately.

The West Midlands force has said: “Have you seen Bridget? The 81-year-old was last seen at around 1pm today leaving Metropolitan Hospital in Smethwick and we are becoming increasing concerned for her welfare.

“Bridget is described as 5ft 1ins tall with shoulder-length grey hair. She was last seen wearing a navy blue coat, black trousers, black shoes and carrying a green bag. Bridget may have travelled into Birmingham. If you see Bridget please get in touch by calling 999 quoting log 3267 of 21 October.”
