McDonald's worker admits staff 'ignore' drive thru customers who say certain word

The TikTok user has claimed that staff at the fast food chain will ignore certain customers

A McDonald's worker has claimed that customers saying one word can lead to them being ignored. The staff member said that the popular greeting can be annoying for workers during their shift on the drive thru.

The worker, who goes by the handle @maccaworkaddict on TikTok, labelled this seemingly normal action as "rude". In her video, she can be seen dancing with a text overlay that reads: "You can't keep ignoring the car in the drive-thru because they screamed hello as soon as they get there."

This is reportedly because staff receive a buzzing alert when a car pulls up at the drive-thru meaning that there is no need for the driver to say anything until prompted. She clarified that her videos are "all a joke" and not to be taken seriously, DublinLive reports.

One user commented under the video: "How about just saying, 'One second, I'll be right with you'. I say hello because I don't know if they know I'm there."

Another drive-thru worker chimed in: "Each time they say hello I make them wait another 10 seconds lol." A former Burger King employee added: "I hated this working at Burger King especially when this customer be out there sitting there yelling soon as I put the headset on."

One person said: "I relate wholeheartedly. I do this, or immediately reply, 'Yes, How Can I Help You? ! ' making it known I'm irritated." She also suggested that if customers pull up and no one speaks to them, it's okay to try to get a worker's attention.

The Irish Mirror reached out to McDonald's for a comment.
