Police issue victim update after stabbing in Soho Road

Police sealed off a section of Soho Road yesterday after a man was knifed in the area

A man left with serious injuries after being knifed on Birmingham's Soho Road was said to be in a "stable condition". The victim, 47, was attacked in the Handsworth shopping district shortly before 6.30am on Tuesday, October 1.

Paramedics found the victim with serious injuries in Holliday Road – just off the Soho Road. He was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

West Midlands Police said today that the man was in a "stable condition". The force said enquiries were ongoing.

A section of Soho Road was cordoned off, outside Handsworth Library, following the attack. A grey police evidence tent was covering an area next to a lamppost and planters near the junction with Thornhill Road.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson told BirminghamLive this morning: "A 47-year-old man remains in a stable condition in hospital. Our enquiries are continuing."

The force previously said: "We're investigating after a man was stabbed on Soho Road in Handsworth on Tuesday (October 1). We were called by paramedics at 6.30am to nearby Holliday Road, where the 47-year-old man was found."
