Birmingham road closed after man hit by car

A pedestrian was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Hockley. It happened at the junction of Nursery Road and Hunters Road shortly after 10pm yesterday, Thursday, October 24.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene. He was taken to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital in a serious condition.

Footage of the incident, seen by BirminghamLive, showed a huge 999 response in Hunters Road. The road was blocked off by a police car and a bus was seemingly unable to pass the scene.

Pedestrians were seen standing at the edge of a cordon. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of Nursery Road and Hunters Road in Aston just after 10pm.

"An ambulance was sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a man with serious injuries. Following treatment from ambulance staff, he was conveyed to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital."
