Meghan Markle "is a good person" with a "big heart", her former bodyguard has revealed. Steve Davies, who previously worked closely with the Duchess of Sussex when she first joined the Royal Family, has come to her defence amid various bullying accusations from staff members.

He maintains that these claims are far from accurate. "She gets a bad rap for being a not very good person to work with, that she was this evil person in the Royal Family," he commented.

However, Steve's memories of Meghan depict her as someone who connected with individuals from all backgrounds, "from working with charities to working with dog walkers and cleaners."

One key takeaway Steve gained from his time with Meghan was the importance of mutual respect: "give respect to get respect". He also admitted feeling sympathy for her during her initial period with the Royal Family, as reported by The Mirror US.

In a candid chat with In Touch Magazine, Steve opened up about how the relentless media attention took its toll on Meghan. He shared: "She was paranoid. We had people following us around everywhere we went."

He recounted the challenges they faced with drones and vehicles tailing them, labelling the experience a "nightmare".

The Duchess' previous freedoms were significantly curtailed, he noted.

Reflecting on a more personal moment, Steve recalled when Meghan yearned for the normalcy of grocery shopping. He described a particular instance: "I pushed the cart around the grocery store, and she was putting stuff in it. She really enjoyed that."

Meghan Markle has been vocal about the restrictions she faced while in the Royal Family. In a revealing chat with CBS in 2021, she disclosed, "I couldn't call an Uber to the palace. You couldn't just go."

The 'Suits' star also mentioned that her personal belongings like her passport and keys were kept by Royal aides.

She expressed her frustration, saying, "People within The Firm would say, 'No, you're oversaturated, it would be best for you to not go out.' I go, 'Well, I haven't left the house in months'."

Despite facing bullying claims from Buckingham Palace staff, which she has always denied, Steve described Meghan as "warm and considerate" from his time with her in Canada. He observed that people are often surprised by "what a big heart she has".

Although no longer working for her, Steve praised the Duchess, stating he'd gladly work for her again and commended her as a boss.
