Fans of BBC Breakfast expressed their discomfort over what they deemed an 'awkward' segment featuring Bill Bailey on Friday's programme.

In the show, the 59 year old comedian and past victor of Strictly Come Dancing appeared to discuss his latest work, a book titled My Animals, and Other Animals: A memoir of sorts.

During the conversation, the hosts shared various snaps of Bill interacting with animals. However, one particular photo showing the comedian with a husky in Iceland seemed to puzzle Naga Munchetty, the 49 year old presenter. She questioned: "Is that your tongue or the dog's tongue?"

A seemingly baffled Bill responded: "That's the dog's tongue, what do you mean is that my tongue? It's coming out sideways! That's not the sort of thing I'd do! That's the dog's tongue!"

Defending her line of inquiry, Naga clarified: "Look you can see if someone said that's your tongue, it would be believable!" Bill humorously shot back: "That's not the question I thought I was going to get today: 'Is that your tongue or the dog's?'"

Towards the interview's conclusion, when asked about AI technology potentially supplanting comedians, Bill confidently retorted: "Do you think? No way, AI could never replace me! Look, AI, the tongue would come straight out you'd know whose tongue it was!"

Naga commented jokingly: "You're saying it as a compliment, the husky had a nice tongue!" to which Bill just replied, "Alright..." while laughing incredulously, reports the Express.

Viewers took to Twitter to express their discomfort over the 'awkward' interview on X, particularly when the conversation veered towards tongues. One viewer commented: "Had to turn over from that Bill Bailey interview, glad I wasn't on my own feeling awkward watching that. Dreadful stuff. #BBCBreakfast".
