Tesco has issued an urgent recall for a Christmas staple. It might be a bit early in the year for Mince Pies, but they are already on the shelves - now some are being taken off.

The supermarket giant has recalled Tesco Finest Six All Butter Pastry Mince Pies due to the potential presence of small pieces of dry glue from the packaging, which makes them unsafe to eat. The alert was posted on both Tesco's website and by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), urging customers not to consume the affected products.

The supermarket stated: "We're recalling specific date codes of Tesco Finest Six All Butter Pastry Mince Pies, due to the possible presence of small pieces of dry glue from the packaging."

  • 26/10/2024
  • 02/11/2024
  • 10/11/2024

Tesco advised customers who have purchased any of the affected mince pies: "If you've bought an affected product, please don't eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store for a refund."

They added that no receipt is necessary and provided assistance through their store locator tool for finding the nearest Tesco in the UK. For further enquiries, customers can contact Tesco customer services at 0800 50 5555.

In related news, Waitrose has also initiated a recall for two of its 'Easy to Cook' products - Salmon En Croute 350g and Salmon and Sweet Potato Curry 500g - due to undeclared allergens such as milk, wheat, soya, and mustard. These products pose a risk to anyone with allergies or intolerances to these ingredients.

Waitrose urges customers with the affected products, which have best-before dates of October 2, and October 3, 2024, not to eat them and to return them to a local store for a full refund. The supermarket apologised for any inconvenience caused and offered customer service support at 0800 188 884, Option Four.
