BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden 'forced to pull out of show' after being taken to hospital

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden was taken to hospital last night after reportedly collapsing backstage following the main show. The Welsh dancer, who suffers from Crohns Disease and is battling cancer, was attended by paramedics at Elstree Studios before being taken to hospital as a precaution.

A statement from Amy's representative reads: "Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy's privacy in matters of health is kindly respected."

The BBC has not confirmed if she participated in the Strictly results show, but it is believed that Gill was seen participating in the results show without her, according to The Sun.

A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance Service stated: "We were called just after 9pm on Saturday to attend a medical emergency at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood. An ambulance was sent to the scene. One patient, an adult female, was transported to Barnet Hospital for further care."

Amy, 34, returned to the series this year after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May of last year. She had been heartbroken when was unable to fully participate in the 2023 show, only appearing for some group dances.

Shortly after her first diagnosis, the star was told she had another type of cancer found elsewhere in her body. After undergoing a mastectomy, she was told that the tumours had spread and was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in July of the same year.

Fortunately, Amy received the all-clear from her consultant. JB Gill and Amy ended up in last week's dance-off. They were saved by the judges, resulting in Paul Merson and Karen Hauer's departure.
