Full police statement after teen dies in Marston Green stabbing

West Midlands Police have released a full statement after a teen boy was killed outside a busy row of shops in Solihull. The teen, 17, was found with serious blade injuries on Station Road in Marston Green just after 6pm on Tuesday night, October 29.

Police and West Midlands Ambulance crews flooded the scene at 6:20pm where they found the 17-year-old boy who had sustained injuries in the knife attack. The force confirmed on Wednesday morning that despite the best efforts of medics, he sadly died and a murder investigation has now been launched.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held by police. CCTV enquiries are being carried out this morning and a log number has been provided for anyone with information to get in touch.

A full statement from West Midlands Police on the incident read: "We've launched a murder investigation and arrested a teenager following a stabbing in Solihull yesterday evening. We were called to Station Road in Marston Green, Solihull at around 6.20pm on Tuesday.

"A 17-year-old boy was treated for his injuries by the ambulance service, but despite their best efforts he sadly died and a murder investigation has now been launched.

"We have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody as our investigation continues. Our thoughts remain firmly with the victim's family and loved ones at this truly tragic time."

Supt Wayne Carter, of Solihull Police, said: "We know people will understandably be concerned and we will be in the area conducting enquiries throughout the day.

"We will have extra officers in the area over the coming days and I would encourage anyone with any information, or concerns, to get in touch. We are reviewing CCTV footage and making enquires and we are also appealing to any witnesses who haven't spoken to us yet, to come forward.
