Comedian Lucy Beaumont has confessed to "sometimes feeling guilty" in the aftermath of her split from Jon Richardson, while also discussing her health disorder.

The 41 year old announced her divorce from fellow comedian Jon Richardson in a joint Instagram statement back in April. The pair, who have been married for nine years, are well-known for their roles in Meet The Richardsons, where they portray exaggerated versions of themselves.

Lucy first crossed paths with Jon at a comedy club at the Fighting Cocks pub in Kingston upon Thames in 2013. She had already made a name for herself in the comedy scene, having won the BBC New Comedy award in 2012 and the Chortle award for best newcomer in 2013.

After tying the knot in 2015, the couple quickly became a fixture on the comedy circuit, conducting interviews together, performing at charity gigs, and even hosting their own Channel 4 game show, Jon and Lucy's Odd Couples. However, it was their mockumentary series Meet The Richardsons that catapulted Lucy to new heights of fame.

In 2023, Lucy received a Bafta TV award nomination for her role in the show, which was also named best comedy at the Broadcast Digital awards in 2022. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Lucy revealed she couldn't discuss the ongoing divorce due to legal reasons but did express feelings of guilt about one aspect of their relationship, reports the Mirror.

She stated: "I don't regret anything. But equally, [over] this next stage I am very much keeping my personal life personal. I sometimes feel guilty that I talked about my daughter and my marriage, and my mum and my dad."

Lucy expressed her gratitude for the opportunities she received, stating: "I think partly I was feeling grateful, grateful that I was getting the work, grateful that I was being interviewed, and feeling like I had to sacrifice and share everything."

As a seasoned comedian, Lucy has appeared on various comedy panel shows, including Would I Lie To You?, The Last Leg, and Have I Got News For You. She and Jon also have a daughter, born in 2016.

Two years ago, Lucy received an ADHD diagnosis, which she described as "interesting being 40 and suddenly understanding a part of yourself when previously you've just thought you were a little bit unhinged."

She explained that her brain resists organisation, making everyday tasks exhausting. "It means your brain doesn't want you to organise things. For some reason, it doesn't want to make life easy for you. I'll get from A to B but I'll exhaust myself doing it. The brain chatter of just going for a cup of tea with a friend.," she said.

However, her neurodiverse perspective also brings creative benefits, particularly in comedy. "You can't get more neurodiverse than Basil Fawlty," she quipped.

"You're also in denial as well, and there's nothing funnier than being flawed."
