Arrest after man found dead inside house

A man has been arrested by police following the discovery of a dead body in Hednesford, Cannock. The 28-year-old was detained by police after ambulance crews were called out to a house on Stafford Lane.

Inside, they found a man in his 60s who was pronounced dead at the scene. Staffordshire Police officers were called in at around 8.20am on Thursday, October 17.

Two days later on Saturday, October 19, a man in his 40s was found dead inside a house just three miles away in Berwick Drive. Three people have been arrested in connection with this incident and there is no indication that the two cases are connected.

A scene was set up at the address on Stafford Lane and detectives are continuing to investigate exactly what happened. The man arrested in connection with this incident has been released on conditional bail, a spokesperson for the force has said.

They added: "We're investigating following the death of a man in Hednesford. Officers were called to a house on Stafford Lane at about 8.20am on Thursday (17 October) by our colleagues at West Midlands Ambulance Service who were responding to a sudden death.

"Sadly, a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers set up a scene at the address in-order to carry out a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

"A 28-year-old man, from Cannock, was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on conditional police bail. We’d like to stress that this investigation is in its early stages and we're actively carrying out enquiries to find out more about what happened."
