British Transport Police has issued an image of a man officers want to speak to after a sexual assault of a woman on a tram from West Bromwich to Wednesbury

Police investigating a sexual assault on a Black Country tram have issued an image of a man they would like to speak. The sexual assault took place on a train bound from Black Lake in West Bromwich to Wednesbury on Saturday, August 3.

The sex attack took place shortly after midday, with the man said to have got off the tram in Wednesbury, shortly after the incident. Now British Transport Police has issued an image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

He is a white man, with short white hair and a goatee beard. He is pictured wearing round glasses, and a blue jacket over a white shirt.

Transport police are asking anyone who recognises the man to come forward. A spokesman for the force said: “Do you recognise this man?

“Officers investigating a sexual assault on board a Midland Metro service from Black Lake to Wednesbury have released this image in connection. At around 12.20pm on 3 August, a man sexually assaulted a woman before getting off the tram at Wednesbury.

“Officers believe the man in the image may have information which could help with their investigation. Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 189 of 7 August.

“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
