Wanted man caught by police hiding in sofa in just his underwear

Police were executing a warrant at an address in Potton, Beds, when they discovered a wanted man hiding in the base of a large sofa in his underwear - with bodycam footage capturing the moment

A wanted man's bid for freedom came to an awkward halt when cops found him scantily clad and tucked inside a sofa. Upon their arrival with a warrant, officers initially believed the house was empty, save for a welcoming pooch.

However, their search on October 11 led them to quite the discovery; under the overturned sofa lay the suspect clad only in his underwear. An officer pronounced at the scene in in Potton, Bedforshire: "Oh look, he's hiding in the sofa. Out you come."

Bedforshire Police, chuckling at the incident, commented: "We've seen some things in our time, but we must say this is a first."

They added: "This morning while executing a warrant in Potton, we thought there was nothing more to be found in the property bar a friendly dog."

Elaborating on the surprising find, they said: "Upon a closer search of the property, officers found the suspect tucked into the base of his sofa."

Having decided the suspect deserved a comfier spot, the police quipped: "We thought the man would be more comfortable tucked into bed, so he'll be spending the next few hours in a custody cell little less of a squeeze."

The Bedfordshire Police have withheld further details at present due to operational reasons.
