Morgan Rogers is hopeful Aston Villa's impressive 3-1 win at Fulham will be the catalyst for a strong run of results with the club playing six more games in the space of 18 days before the November international break.

Villa came from behind to defeat Fulham after Raul Jimenez opened the scoring in the fifth minute. Rogers then put Villa back on level terms as his deflected effort from outside the box beat Bernd Leno.

Emi Martinez then saved a penalty, denying Andreas Pereira from the spot after Matty Cash was penalised for handball. Ollie Watkins put Villa in front on the hour mark, before Joachim Anderson was sent off and Issa Diop scored an own goal. The drama didn't end there as Jaden Philogene picked up two bookings in the space of five minutes late on.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after full-time, Rogers said: "They scored in the first five minutes, but we knuckled down after that and we dominate pretty much most of the game. We should have scored a few more, but in the second half we put our foot on the gas and we deserved the win.

"It was massive to respond how we did so quickly. It helped settle the nerves and we were generally playing well and to get it so quick did help.

"After the international break you start fresh with a clean slate and to get the win is massive. We have an important week and it's just the start of it."

Asked about Martinez's penalty save, Rogers said: "That's why he's the best. That's what he does. If it goes 2-1 anything can happen in the game."
