Liam Payne's heartbreaking wish an hour before hotel death

by · Birmingham Live

Liam Payne revealed his heartbreaking final wish to a One Direction fan just hours before his death. Fans around the world have been left devastated after news of the late singer's death emerged.

The 31-year-old - from Wolverhampton - died after falling from the balcony of his third floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16. Details of his last hours in the capital have since emerged - including from 'Directioners' mourning his loss.

According to one fan, the dad-of-one reportedly told her how much he loved Buenos Aires just over an hour before he died. Diana Gauna met and chatted to her idol in the hotel lobby at about 3pm.

She broke down in tears as she recalled their last conversation, telling Argentinian TV show TN Central: "Liam looked in good shape, not drunk or aggressive like they’ve been saying on social media. He approached us and spent quite a bit of time talking to us and telling us about his experiences in Buenos Aires, the places he’d been to and where he wanted to go.

"He said he loved the city and would like to buy a home here, that he loved the countryside around Buenos Aires." She added: "Liam also told us during the conversation that he’d been to the countryside with his girlfriend, that on Sunday morning about 7am they’d gone out running together.

"He told us he was really enjoying Buenos Aires." Diana claims she was in the CasaSur Palermo Hotel when she 'began to see strange movements and a police patrol car and fire engine turned up'.

Recalling her shock at Payne's death, she said: "I never thought it was Liam because I had seen him just over an hour earlier and he seemed okay. Finding out someone is dead that you’ve just seen was really shocking.

"He was my idol. Liam spoke a lot about mental health and in his songs told us we are never alone. This is all very hard. As fans we are in a lot of pain."

Prosecutors said last week they had found no evidence pointing to any third-party involvement in the incident that led to Liam's death, but revealed they were continuing to investigate.

According to Argentine media, the former ITV The X Factor star had traces of cocaine in his body at the time of his death. News portal Infobae said prelimiinary results of an autopsy had 'determined the presence of the class-A drug'.

ABC News claims that the substances included 'pink cocaine' - a mixture of several drugs including MDMA, ketamine, methamphetamine, cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack.
