Car dumped on Metro tracks near Birmingham Snow Hill station after driver 'walked off'

A car was stuck on tracks near Birmingham Snow Hill station this morning, Wednesday, November 6. A witness said the driver dumped the vehicle and 'walked off.'

West Midlands Metro said the vehicle was left on the line at St Chad's. It meant no tram services were running between St Chads and Edgbaston Village.

A passerby told BirminghamLive: "A car came on a platform at Snow Hill station and the driver walked off and left the car there." The operation to remove the car and trace the driver was ongoing.

West Midlands Metro posted: "Due to a vehicle on the tracks at St Chad's, trams are currently operating between Wolverhampton Station and St Pauls. There is no service in operation between St Chads and Edgbaston Village."

It prompted comments from users on X, with one writing: "Can't they see the signs & track overhead wires?" Another said: "How are they getting on the tracks there?"
