First images of Rolex gang who shot Birmingham pub doorman in botched mugging

These are the four men involved in a botched Rolex robbery at a Birmingham pub which ended with a doorman being shot. The incident unfolded at the Castle & Falcon in Moseley Road, Balsall Heath, on Saturday, February 11 last year.

Andrew James was in the pub in the early hours and spotted his victim wearing a Rolex watch. He then contacted Abdoulie Anderson, who with Daneton Bailey-Warren and Enrico Henricks, approached the man as he was leaving, and demanded the watch.

The man refused and was threatened with a gun pointed at his chest. A doorman said ‘don’t do it’ as the gun was aimed at him.

But Anderson fired the gun three times and shot the pub security guard in the leg, with a bullet passing in and out of his ankle. Two others were injured and police were called.

As firearms officers arrived James was detained leaving the scene and found to be in possession of a second gun. CCTV trawls were undertaken to identify the other three who made off in a stolen Peugeot 2008.

The vehicle was tracked in reverse and the occupants were caught on CCTV entering Club PST in Digbeth earlier the same evening. Facial recognition helped officers identify the offenders.

James, 42, of Granville Square, Bailey-Warren, 21, of Springbank Road, Anderson, also 21, of Bell Barn Road, all Edgbaston and Hendricks, 25, of Prince of Wales Lane in Kings Heath, went on trial at Birmingham Crown Court on August 7 last year. All four pleaded guilty to attempted robbery on the second day.

Anderson admitted possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and wounding and James also pleaded guilty to of possession of a firearm and cannabis.

James and Anderson were each jailed for six-and-a-half years. Daneton Bailey-Warren and Enrico Hendricks were each put behind bars for three years and 11 months.

Det Sgt Lucy Mooney, from West Midlands Police's Major Crime Team, said: “Fortunately the bullet which hit the security guard in his ankle went straight through and he has recovered from his ordeal. The other two injured also did not suffer any long term injuries.

“The victim, although not injured, was threatened with a firearm and I do not underestimate the fear he felt. We are determined to place anyone in possession of a firearm before the courts and seize these weapons which have no place on our streets.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson added: "Operation Target sees us taking a defiant stand against a range of serious and organised crime offences – from drug dealing and burglary to cybercrime and fraud."
