BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans have demanded Wynne Evans be SACKED after a joke gone wrong. BBC viewers have savaged the GoCompare star after he shared a grovelling apology following the viral hand gesture row with Katya Jones.

Strictly Come Dancing fans saw Wynne and Katya clear things up on spin-off show It Takes Two last night. The Sun revealed Wynne and Katya have been 'rapped over the knuckles' by bosses for the incident, which unfolded on Saturday's show.

Katya later insisted it was an "inside joke" between her and Wynne while appearing on It Takes Two. She said: "I have to make this absolutely clear that this whole incident with the hand and the high five on Saturday night, it was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke? Yes. Was it a bad joke? Yes."

But taking to Twitter, now X, a fan fumed: "He needs to go, the public won’t be fooled by this written script by BBC." Another said: "They’ve been told to smooth this over but you can tell Katya was VERY uncomfortable. Needs to be AXED!"

And a third added: "It wasn't a joke because it was clear from the facial expressions of both of them at the time." Wynne added during his chat with Fleur East on Monday night: "I watched it back and I can see how people may have misinterpreted it."

Katya continued: "However it was a joke and even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is total nonsense. And those that have doubts, you guys have got it wrong. So, hopefully this will be the end of it and can you just keep making me smile please because my Sunday was pretty boring without you making me belly laugh."
