Birmingham beauty queen Sacha Jones has opened up on why she decided to take part in E4's Married at First Sight - and her thoughts on her wedding day. Sacha is 29-year-old aesthetics practitioner currently based in Walsall.

Sacha has competed in beauty pageants since she was just six years old winning Miss Birmingham in 2018, but she's more than just your average beauty queen. Sacha is also a dedicated kickboxer and said she hopes her appearance on MAFS will encourage other women and girls to take up martial arts.

Sacha's episode of MAFS will air tonight on E4 at 9pm as she ties the knot with a total stranger who she meets for the first time on their wedding day. Speaking ahead of the show she said: "I am so excited for the episode to come out - I think everyone is going to be hooked."

Speaking ahead of the MAFS premiere, Sacha said she had only ever had one long term relationship, which lasted three years. For the last nine months, she's made the decision to become celibate until the right man comes along.

She said the decision inspired her to apply for the show. "I was already a big fan of the show," she told BirminghamLive. "I knew I wanted a husband and was ready for one, so I thought ‘why not apply? It was a very quick process, I decided to apply right before the application deadline. I got a call the next day and then it was bang, bang, bang you’re getting married."

Sacha remained tight-lipped over how the day of her wedding panned out, but admitted she was 'petrified' as she walked down the aisle. She revealed her thoughts as she took those steps, saying: "The day of the wedding I just remember being absolutely terrified.

"There was a point where I was walking up the aisle and I remember thinking ‘what the f*** am I doing?’. When I first woke up I was feeling ready.

"I’m a confident person so I was planning to get down that aisle and chat his ear off, but until you’re in that situation you don’t know how you’re going to feel. I was petrified, I couldn’t stop shaking - but the wedding day was beautiful.”

Married at First Sight UK began on Monday, September 16 on E4 and will air at the same time every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until otherwise stated at 9pm. Contestants meet each other for the first time ever at the altar on their wedding day - seven men and nine women will feature on the show.
