Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden has thanked fans for their concern as she confirmed through a representative that she was "feeling much better". It comes after the professional dancer was absent from the BBC results show on Sunday night after she reportedly 'collapsed' after the live show on Saturday night.

Amy, who only returned to the show full this year after battling cancer, was taken to hospital as a precaution. A representative for Amy stated: "Amy was feeling unwell, so an ambulance was called as a precaution.

"She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy's privacy in matters of health is kindly respected."

Minutes into the results show, Tess Daly paused to confirm Amy would not be there. She told the audience: "Before we get started, Amy is unable to be with us for tonight's show," and quickly moved on.

As the host announced that JB and Amy were remaining in Strictly, he stood alone and clasped his hands in a prayer position as he thanked the audience for saving them. Talking about his partner in the Clauditorium, JB suggested they would be returning for next week's show.

He said: "Amy of course is going to be so happy we're through to Icons week." They are performing their Couple's Choice, with JB transforming into his musical icon Bruno Mars.

Viewers flooded Strictly's X feed with concern for Amy, with one writing: "Oh is Amy ok? That was an abrupt announcement."

A second commented: "#strictly Thinking of Amy. Hope she gets better as soon as poss." A third added: "No Amy? Hope she’s okay."
