The team posted about the incident on X in the early hours of Tuesday morning, October 15. The post read: "This VW was being towed on the M6 near Stafford. We stopped it because it was being towed using 2 SEATBELTS tied together.

"The tyres were also in a dangerous condition and one driver was disqualified. Both drivers reported for summons and the VW recovered."

One social media user responded to ask: "Is driving while disqualified no longer an arrestable offence?" The team replied: "It is under s.24 PACE [Police and Criminal Evidence Act]. But we have to satisfy the necessity of the arrest under Code G of PACE, which states 'The use of the power must be fully justified and officers exercising the power should consider if the necessary objectives can be met by other, less intrusive means'."
